What is sermorelin and why is it used?

Sermorelin is a GHRH analog: instead of adding growth hormone from outside, it signals your own pituitary gland to release yours. Here is how that works, what it is used to support, and what a supervised protocol actually looks like.

What sermorelin is

Sermorelin is a peptide, meaning a short chain of amino acids. It is built to mirror a signaling molecule your body already makes on its own: growth hormone releasing hormone, usually shortened to GHRH.

Why signaling matters more than supplying

The alternative approach is to supply growth hormone directly. Injected growth hormone skips the pituitary entirely. The gland is not asked, the feedback loop has no say, and the natural pulse pattern is replaced by whatever the injection delivers.

Growth hormone itself is also tightly restricted in the United States. It is legal to prescribe only for a narrow set of diagnosed medical conditions, and general wellness is not one of them.
